Section 2701 of Title 18 of the United States Code (18
U.S.C. § 2701) bars unauthorized access, alteration, or prevention
of access to stored wire or electronic communications. For example,
hacking into someone's email.
The maximum penalty for violationg section 2701 is two years in prison.
