The drugs regulated by federal drug laws include just about anything
people take to make themselves feel better and avoid reality. Federal
prosecutors' drug of choice (for prosecuting, that is) changes from
month to month and from district to district. Cocaine and marijuana
cases are common, as well as MDMA ("Ecstasy") cases. In recent
years we have seen more methamphetamine cases coming through the system,
possibly because people sent to prison for meth 15-20 years ago have
been getting out.
Here is a table
listing penalties for possession of the most common drugs. And here
is the drug equivalency table, which allows you to convert quantities
of other drugs to equivalent quantities of marijuana for sentencing
purposes.
